Terrace: A Monolithic Residential Building with Stunning Sea-Facing Terraces

What sets Terrace apart from its competitors is its distinctive monolithic design, featuring a repetition of terraces that seamlessly connect the ground floor to the upper collective terrace. This design choice not only enhances the building's aesthetic appeal but also provides residents with direct access to breathtaking views of the sea.

The realization of Terrace relies on a combination of exposed reinforced concrete and cutting-edge technology. The base of the building showcases the beauty of exposed concrete, while the apartment frames and leisure areas boast sliding panels and high-tech finishes. This fusion of natural materials and modern technology creates a unique duality that defines the character of Terrace.

With 59 units spread across 25 floors, Terrace offers luxury vacation apartments in a condominium setting. The highlight of each unit is the spacious balcony-terrace, which seamlessly connects different living spaces and allows residents to enjoy the coastal breeze and panoramic views.

Located in Picarras, Santa Catarina, Brazil, the Terrace project began in October 2020 and was completed in August 2021. Construction commenced in December 2021, with an expected completion date of November 2024. Throughout the design process, extensive research was conducted to explore the relationship between balconies and facades, aiming to transform Terrace into a visual icon that interacts harmoniously with its surroundings.

Overcoming various creative, technical, and research challenges, the design team led by Rodrigo Kirck Rebelo incorporated contemporary design principles and participatory design concepts. The result is a building that not only meets the needs of its residents but also contributes to the future development of the area.

Terrace has been recognized for its outstanding design and creativity, receiving the Bronze A' Design Award in the Architecture, Building, and Structure Design category in 2022. This prestigious award acknowledges Terrace's ability to combine art, science, design, and technology to improve the quality of life and make a positive impact on society.
